There are some who would argue, and perhaps rightfully so, that comedy in America is dead.
Well, if it’s not, it’s definitely on life support.
On MSNBC, Mother’s Day it should be noted, washed up female “comedian” Laurie Kilmartin was on a panel hosted by Ayman Mohyeldin, and the ever witty, ever “hilarious” Kilmartin had this to say in regards to the leaked SCOTUS opinion on Roe vs. Wade.
“I would like to find out who the leaker is. So I can make sweet love to that person because that person is a hero,” guest Laurie Kilmartin said, prompting laughter from the MSNBC host.
Oh the hysterics! As Mohyeldin buried his head in his hands and laughed, Kilmartin added, “A lot of people are saying the leaker could be a conservative. If the leaker is a Republican, and if I get pregnant during our love making, I will joyfully abort our fetus,” Kilmartin added.
Really heady stuff! Of course it SHOULD be noted that Kilmartin IS 56 years old, likely well beyond her child bearing years, that is, if she could even find a willing participant, no less a conservative that would give her the time of day.
Kilmartin, besides being beyond her peak child bearing years, is also beyond her peak comedic years.
Let’s be completely honest…Do we really want this f*cking whack job having a baby? @MSNBC keeping it classy! 🙄 #LaurieKilmartinhttps://t.co/FUJYuFDkN4

Apparently she still does standup, likely to crowds about the size of a half full Subway sandwich shop, and has past credit writing for Conan on TBS. Kilmartin finished her comedic assault on the senses with this gem.
“Well, this is controversial, but I think that every Democratic member of Congress who is over the age of 87 should go on a hunger strike for abortion rights, because let’s face it, they don’t have much longer anyway,” Kilmartin said. “You might as well go out a hero in a blaze of glory.”
Oh Laurie, that is great stuff! I hope the 15 people that actually watch MSNBC got a good belly laugh! Really makes one long for the days of Jerry Seinfeld and bits about airplane food.
Now of course, I realize I am being a bit mean spirited and callous, but forgive me for thinking comedy is supposed to actually be funny.
What, pray tell, is funny about the idea of getting pregnant with a conservative just so you can abort the fetus just to spite him? Is this supposed to be edgy? Controversial? Or just stupid? I’m going with the latter.
Throw in the fact this was broadcast on Mother’s Day! The crassness is only matched by the juvenile nature of the joke.
Perhaps we should give Laurie a pass on this one? She certainly isn’t in danger of getting pregnant, and given the fact she is appearing on lowly rated MSNBC, is perhaps taking one last swing for the fences to stay semi relevant.
Either way, just one more reason to avoid MSNBC, and Laurie Kilmartin, if she is playing the local Sub shop near you.
