On Monday, MSNBC host Joy Reid aired the last episode of her show, “The ReidOut,” after having been fired by her employers. This didn’t sit well with fellow host and friend Rachel Maddow, who let her feelings be known during a monologue on her show not long after.
During the segment, Maddow seemed to suggest the reason for Reid’s firing was due to being black. It’s never a good idea to insinuate the people who pay your bills are racist.
She quickly learned that, as the Good Book teaches, you reap what you sow.
Reports have now revealed that MSNBC has laid off the majority of her production staff. Seems as if they might be sending her a message about her comments, doesn’t it?
While delivering the monologue, Maddow expressed her feelings of admiration and love for her friend before immediately turning to the bite the hand that feeds her by accusing them of racism, saying she found the whole situation “unnerving to see that a network where we’ve got two — count ’em two — non-white hosts in prime time. Both of our non-white hosts in prime time are losing their shows.”

Rachel Maddow says Joy Reid got fired because she’s ‘bIack’…

“Maddow found it indefensible that these minority colleagues were being let go. Apparently, MSNBC executives must have been watching that evening, as they later announced they found it necessary to cut staff from a prime-time show with a white host — Maddow’s,” The Western Journal said.
The following day, Tuesday, big wigs from the network sat her crew down and told them that most of them would be booted, though they could claim severance or even apply for a different position with the company.
MSNBC’s only real big name gets to keep her executive producer along with a team of higher-ranking producers to help with the show.
Maddow ended up getting what she wanted after all, didn’t she? Equality. She hammered MSNBC for not firing whites and going after blacks and so they rectified the situation by slamming her show.
Another thing that suggests this was a slap on her wrist by the network is that there are no other layoffs happening at the company. She was specifically targeted. Seems weird after all the criticism she gave her employers.
What MSNBC really needs is to shift back to the middle and stop being so radically left-wing. A good way to do that would be to hire Republicans to provide counter-balance during panel discussions. Kind of like Scott Jennings over at CNN.
He’s a likable fellow who sticks to his principles and doesn’t back down in discussions with liberals. However, he’s also a nice guy.
That’s the path forward for MSNBC.
