A total of seven attorneys general, led by GOP Attorney General Todd Rokita of Indiana, put their John Hancocks down on a letter sent to the top dog over at retail giant Target, annihilating the company for pushing “LGBTQIA+ promotional products” on children. Wow, just look at all those letters. How many more are going to be added to this thing? Eventually it will just be all the letters of the alphabet in random order.
“The letter, dated yesterday, focuses on Target’s Pride Month display and its support of a pro-transgender organization. It was addressed to Brian Cornell, the Chairman and CEO of Target Corporation, and co-signed by Missouri AG Andrew Bailey, Mississippi AG Lynn Fitch, Arkansas AG Tim Griffin, Idaho AG Raul Labrador, Kentucky AG Daniel Cameron, and South Carolina AG Alan Wilson,” Spencer Lindquist, writer for the Daily Wire, stated in a recent report.
“As Attorneys General committed to enforcing our States’ child-protection and parental-rights laws and our States’ economic interests as Target shareholders, we are concerned by recent events involving the company’s ‘Pride’ campaign,” the letter kicks off.
The letter states that officials are worried that the “promotion and sale of potentially harmful products to minors,” along with “potential interference with parental authority in matters of sex and gender identity” and a “possible violation of fiduciary duties by the company’s directors and officers.”
It goes on to shine a light on several specific products sold by the retailer during Pride Month that the attorneys general say the company “wittingly marketed and sold LGBTQIA+ promotional products to families and young children as part of a comprehensive effort to promote gender and sexual identity among children.”
And that is the whole problem. Conservatives are not saying that adults can live life the way they choose. If you want to be gay, be gay. I disagree with the lifestyle due to religious beliefs, but fully believe such an individual has the same rights as others. Same thing with being transgender. You can live your life anyway you choose to. Just don’t force me to accept it, uphold it, or support it. I don’t uphold or support a depressed person cutting themselves either, nor a drug addict consuming illegal substances.
However, you do not have the right to force this stuff on kids who are far too easily influenced and lack the development or maturity to make a decision concerning their sexuality.
Here’s more from Lindquist:
The letter describes items that the attorneys general found particularly concerning, including a shirt that read “homophobe headrest” next to a picture of a guillotine, as well as one that read “transphobe collector” alongside a picture of a skull.
Yet another shirt read “we bash back” next to a mace that bore the colors of the transgender pride flag. The letter also says that these products were part of a “Satanist-inspired” brand called “Abprallen,” referencing another product that “included the phrase ‘Satan Respects Pronouns’ with a horned ram representing Baphomet.”
The letter also highlights swimsuits with “tuck-friendly construction” and “extra crotch coverage.”
The attorneys general also spoke about Target’s support for the Gay, Lesbian, Straight Education Network, otherwise known as GLSEN.
“GLSEN furnishes resources to activists for the purpose of undermining parents’ constitutional and statutory rights by supporting ‘secret gender transitions for kids,’” the letter accuses. The letter then points out how the Pride campaign from Target, coupled with their support for GLSEN, causes concern “under our States’ child-protection and parental-rights laws.”
“Target’s directors and officers may be negligent in undertaking the ‘Pride’ campaign, which negatively affected Target’s stock price,” the letter explains before going on to say, “it may have improperly directed company resources for collateral political or social goals unrelated to the company’s and its shareholders’ best interests.”
“Directors and officers must act solely in the best interest of the company. But you have reportedly defended the campaign as ‘the right thing for society,’ the letter to Target Chairman and CEO Brian Cornell charges,” the Daily Wire reported.
Target, much like beer brand Bud Light, suffered negative economic consequences for its support of the transgender agenda, as the company’s share prices dropped to the lowest they have been in five years.
“Transanity doesn’t sell,” Attorney General Rokita zinged. “Let’s all unite around pride in America instead of falling into the trap of dividing along lines of identity politics.”
