Tucker Carlson, former Fox News pundit and co-founder of the Daily Caller, has been enjoying a whole lot of success on his own since his employer booted him back in April. The fact he’s a free agent with his own streaming show on X/Twitter and the many sightings of him with former President Donald Trump have caused many to speculate he could potentially be Trump’s running mate should he cinch the GOP primary nomination.
Carlson has finally weighed in on those rumors Thursday evening, not going so far as to totally rule out joining hands with Trump on a ticket for the White House, however, he did say there was one specific thing that had to happen in order for him to accept an invite if one were to be extended to him.
According to the Daily Caller, Carlson said that “God would have to yell at me very loud” in order for him to say “yes” to being the vice presidential candidate alongside the former president. The popular journalist’s comments were made during the annual Christmas gala held by the American Principles Project Foundation, where he delivered an address. The comment in question was a response to a question from Axios that claimed former first lady Melania Trump said Carlson is being looked at as a potential vice presidential candidate.
“God would have to yell at me very loud,” Tucker Carlson says at APP gala when asked about speculation that he’d join the ticket as VP with Trump. Being around politicians constantly, he adds, “is so repulsive to me.”

During the event, Tucker Carlson stated that he finds it hard to imagine making the transition from being someone who talks about politics and covers it in the news, to being an active participant in that world.
“To go from being, like, a well-paid street corner schizophrenic to, like, a politician — it’s just kind of hard to envision,” he stated in his response to the question.
Here’s more from the report:
Carlson has expressed no interest in running for president despite widespread speculation. He told Semafor editor-in-chief Ben Smith in a July 2022 interview that he has “zero ambition” to run for president and does not want any power.
“I have zero ambition, not just politically, but in life,” Carlson remarked. “My ambition is to write my script by 8:00 p.m. And I’m not just saying that, as anyone who works with me or knows me, I don’t think that way. I don’t want power. I’ve never wanted power. I’m annoyed by things, I want them to change, but I’ve never been motivated by the desire to control people.”
He recently expressed his support for Trump in a Nov. 30 interview, and said he will lead protests if the Justice Department convicts the former president of any of the 91 charges against him. Carlson said he became a staunch Trump supporter after FBI agents raided Mar-a-Lago and seized hundreds of classified documents in Aug. 2022.
This guy is quite a character, isn’t he? There’s no doubt Carlson is probably the most popular voice in conservative alive right now. No one has as much influence with the public as he does. People look at him the way folks back in the 1960s used to look at Walter Kronkite. He is a bringer of truth, someone who is motivated — despite his saying otherwise — to present people with the facts they need to make up their own minds about the issues of the day.
As much good as he would do as a vice president, perhaps we need him more in the role he already occupies?
