Former President Donald Trump conducted an interview with Fox News host Maria Bartiromo on her program “Sunday Morning Futures” on Sunday where he essentially dropped two names that he is considering for his vice presidential running mate should he nab the Republican Party nomination this year. And given he’s already scored two massive victories, I’d say the chances of him pulling out a “W” are pretty darn good. Most of us kind of already figured he would be running against Biden later this year, given his massive lead over the competition in the GOP field in polling data.
During the interview, the former president mentioned South Carolina Republican Sen. Tim Scott and South Dakota Republican Gov. Kristi Noem. Honestly, both of these are good picks. Scott has proven to be an honest, faithful Bible believing Christian and Noem has been an effective governor and has also stood on her principles.
“Well, I have a lot of good people. We have a lot of really good people,” Trump stated during the interview. “I have a lot of good ideas, but I haven’t — and there’s no reason to do that quickly.”
Trump told Bartiromo that he would not be picking his VP running mate anytime soon, stating that one of his top criteria for choosing someone is whether or not they would be a good commander-in-chief.
“I speak to everybody,” he said, according to the Daily Wire. “I called Tim Scott … and I said, ‘you’re a much better candidate for me than you are for yourself.’ When I watched Tim, he was fine, he was good, but he was very low-key, et cetera, et cetera.”
“I watched him in the last week defending me and sticking up for me and fighting for me,” he added. “I said, man, I said, ‘you’re a much better person for me than you are for yourself’, because, for himself, he was low-key. For me, he’s been a real tiger. He’s been incredible. And others have too.”
Speaking of Gov. Noem, Trump said, “Kristi Noem has been incredible fighting for me. She said, I’d never run against him because I can’t beat him. That was a very nice thing to say.”

I think it speaks volumes about Trump’s character that his main criteria for choosing a running mate is whether or not that individual would make a good replacement for him should some sort of emergency situation pop up where he was not able to fulfill his duties as commander-in-chief. Those who are anti-Trump constantly attempt to paint up Trump as some kind of narcissist who only cares about himself.
Obviously, that is not true. We’ve seen the many works of charity he has done, most of which he did when cameras weren’t rolling, which means he wasn’t doing it to make himself look good or win public approval. He carried out those acts because he cared. And the fact he’s thinking of the American people and who he could entrust his duties to in an emergency is exactly the kind of characteristic you want in someone leading a country.
If Trump wins, I’m excited to see who he will choose for his presidential ticket.
