Former President Donald Trump was just given some bad news, as a federal appeals court ruled on Tuesday that he does not have presidential immunity from prosecution of alleged criminal acts that are related to 2020 election interference. Once again, the justice system, which has been clearly hijacked by the deep state, has been politicized against Trump and by proxy, the American people in an attempt to protect President Joe Biden. This is getting old, isn’t it?
According to the Daily Wire:
The appeal was made to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit by the Trump team in connection to special counsel Jack Smith’s election interference case in the U.S. District Court in Washington, D.C.
“We have balanced former President Trump’s asserted interests in executive immunity against the vital public interests that favor allowing this prosecution to proceed,” the three-judge panel opinion went on to say.
“We conclude that ‘[c]oncerns of public policy, especially as illuminated by our history and the structure of our government’ compel the rejection of his claim of immunity in this case,” the panel stated, upholding the ruling issued by a trial judge.
The panel is composed of two judges appointed by Democrats and one appointed by a Republican. The former president is expected to appeal the ruling to the U.S. Supreme Court, which is part of a larger effort to slow down Smith’s case against the former president.
Smith has stated that he wants the trial to get going as soon as possible, which is likely an attempt to avoid the very possible outcome of Trump winning the 2024 presidential election. As of now, the former president is the Republican frontrunner for the party nomination, so it’s likely he will end up running against President Joe Biden in the general election.
Now if the U.S. Supreme Court were to come out and refuse to hear the question concerning immunity, that would mean the decision from the appeals court would stand and the case would have to move forward. However, if they do decide to hear the case, the decision they reach on the matter could potentially destroy Smith’s case or delay it past the general election later this year.
Following the appeal decision, legal analyst and attorney Jonathan Turley emphasized to Fox News that the Supreme Court doesn’t share the same “urgency” as Smith, regarding the case.
“The interesting dynamic about this case is that Jack Smith has been telling every court that ‘it’s absolutely urgent that we move this trial forward’ and he made it clear that he wants this president tried and convicted before the election,” Turley remarked according to a Newsweek report. “The Supreme Court clearly didn’t share that urgency, it refused to do that, and so it’s not clear they’re gonna feel even greater urgency now.”
One of the reason’s Smith wants to avoid Trump winning the 2024 presidential election is because a victory for the former president could result in the Justice Department dismissing the charges against him. Trump himself has made the case that the indictment and all the other charges that have been brought against him in recent cases are part of a “witch-hunt” and are the result of political targeting.
And that seems to be the case when you examine the corruption behind many of the individuals bringing these cases against him.
Of course, Trump could also issue himself a pardon if he wins the election, so there’s that option too.
