Vice President Kamala Harris’s presidential campaign is now requesting a major rule change to the upcoming debate on ABC scheduled for September 10 against former President Donald Trump, demanding that the microphones for BOTH candidates remain on the whole evening. Seeing stuff like this makes you wonder what Harris is afraid of, seeing as how she also hasn’t done a press conference since becoming the Democratic Party presidential nominee. It seems to me she wants to be able to interrupt Trump when he’s speaking, as well as hoping she’s going to catch him saying something under his breath that can be used against him.
Zach Jewell of the Daily Wire wrote, “When Trump agreed to two debates against President Joe Biden, both campaigns approved of rules that would mute the microphone of the candidate who was not speaking. Political commentators generally agreed that the muted mics helped Trump during the June 27 CNN debate against Biden, and now, the Harris campaign wants both the vice presidential candidates’ and Trump’s microphones to stay hot during the upcoming debate on ABC.”
“We have told ABC and other networks seeking to host a possible October debate that we believe both candidates’ mics should be live throughout the full broadcast,” Brian Fallon, senior communications adviser for Harris campaign, went on to tell the folks at POLITICO. “Our understanding is that Trump’s handlers prefer the muted microphone because they don’t think their candidate can act presidential for 90 minutes on his own. We suspect Trump’s team has not even told their boss about this dispute because it would be too embarrassing to admit they don’t think he can handle himself against Vice President Harris without the benefit of a mute button.”
The outlet then reported that Harris and her team want the mics left on because they’re hoping he will interrupt her during the event and say something damaging to his campaign. However, the campaign team for Trump believes that Harris should honor the rules and terms that were agreed upon by Biden when he was the nominee before the radical left pushed him out of the position. Senior Advisor Jason Miller also spoke with POLITICO, telling the news publication that the rule change request from the Harris campaign is just political “games,” stating that it looks like Harris is just “looking for a way to get out of any debate with President Trump.”
“Enough with the games. We accepted the ABC debate under the exact same terms as the CNN debate. The Harris camp, after having already agreed to the CNN rules, asked for a seated debate, with notes, and opening statements. We said no changes to the agreed upon rules,” Miller stated in the interview. “If Kamala Harris isn’t smart enough to repeat the messaging points her handlers want her to memorize, that’s their problem. This seems to be a pattern for the Harris campaign. They won’t allow Harris to do interviews, they won’t allow her to do press conferences, and now they want to give her a cheat-sheet for the debate. My guess is that they’re looking for a way to get out of any debate with President Trump.”
Last month, Harris made fun of Trump for originally not wanting to debate her on Sept. 10, after the president dropped from the race and she became the nominee. However, the former president responded by saying he would indeed debate Harris on ABC as was originally scheduled, going on to pressure her to agree to two other debates. One of the events is to be held on Fox News on September 4th, the other on NBC on September 25th.
In a Truth Social post on Sunday evening, Trump questioned whether it made sense for him to debate Harris on ABC, writing, “I watched ABC FAKE NEWS this morning, both lightweight reporter Jonathan Carl’s(K?) ridiculous and biased interview of Tom Cotton (who was fantastic!), and their so-called Panel of Trump Haters, and I ask, why would I do the Debate against Kamala Harris on that network?”
Personally, I cannot wait to see Trump shred Harris live on television. Whenever the vice president gets nervous she spouts nonsense and laughs hysterically. She will get eaten alive. Trust me when I say, this will be high quality entertainment.
