The president of the College Republicans of America’s chapter at New York University has officially resigned from her position after speaking with the media and saying President Donald Trump’s son, Barron Trump, is an “oddity on campus” who basically just keeps to himself. Because apparently minding your own business and being a private person is suddenly weird.
That’s how you know you live in a society that’s been corrupted by the selfie culture. Social media has convinced people that everybody is interesting and needs to share their life publicly and be super social in real life too, or else risk being labeled a weirdo.
College Republicans of America (CRA) revealed in a statement on Tuesday that chapter president Kaya Walker’s comments did “not align with the values and principles upheld” by the group.
The statement then said that various media outlets such as Vanity Fair and The Independent “unfairly framed what was said,” going on to add, however, that “upon review, we still found it to be inappropriate.”
“The NYU chapter president submitted her resignation last night,” CRA stated.
“CRA posted the announcement of Walker’s resignation with an invitation for Barron to join the NYU chapter. Barron is a freshman at the school,” the Daily Wire reported.
“In response to recent events with our NYU chapter, College Republicans of America formally invites Barron Trump to join us in reshaping the Republican Party,” the post went on to say. “Barron Trump represents the future of the conservative movement and we would be honored to have him join College Republicans of America,” CRA president Will Donahue remarked.
Walker is alleged to have said, according to an article published by Vanity Fair, of young Barron, “He’s sort of like an oddity on campus. He goes to class, he goes home.”
“His NYU classmates find him to be as big a mystery as the rest of the world,” Vanity Fair said in the article. “Unlike his father, Barron does not speak publicly nor operate a public social media account, which, by all appearances, has only deepened his mystique.”
Just a year ago, it was said by a source on campus that Barron is a “ladies’ man for sure.” So which is it? Is he a loner or good with the chicks? It’s possible to be both. Maybe he just wants to keep a low profile so he can have a life of his own? That’s pretty hard to do when your dad is one of the best presidents to occupy the Oval Office.
“He’s tall and handsome. A lot of people seem to think he’s pretty attractive — yes, even liberal people like him,” the source told PEOPLE.
“During the 2024 election, Barron participated in events with his father and was credited with pushing the now-president to go on podcasts younger people frequently listen to,” the report said.
Barron’s older brother, Eric Trump, told the media after the election that his little brother helped tremendously during the campaign, suggesting a number of podcasts his dad needed to make an appearance on in order to reach a younger demographic of voter.
“Obviously, Joe Rogan is one of the biggest podcasters in the world, so it’s not like this hadn’t occurred to us to go on Joe Rogan, but you know, [Barron] speaks to a different demographic in terms of voter, and now he did certainly suggest a couple of the more millennial, or even younger generation-style, podcasts,” Eric said of his brother. “Some of those were fantastic.”
“My father did incredibly well with the youth vote, and he picked up segments of the vote that he had never picked up before,” he continued. “And I’m sure a lot of that was attributable to the podcast circuit that he really committed to.”
