Stand-up comedian and actor Bill Burr made an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel’s program and took an opportunity to completely and utterly shred him and other late night hosts for their constant blabbering about former President Donald Trump, saying they should “shut up” and stop talking about the “narcissist.” I mean, he insulted Trump in his rant too, but that doesn’t change the fact he’s got a valid point about these moronic left-wing nutjobs on late night television. Back in the day, it was common place for these hosts to tackle politics, but they did so in a bit more balanced way where left and right caught flack. Most of the positions they took on issues on the news was centrist, which helped foster a sense of unity with the viewing audience.
Making fun of politicians brought people together instead of ripping them apart like it does today.
During Burr’s appearance on Tuesday’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” on ABC, the “Old Dads” actor turned the discussion with Kimmel toward the topic of the 2024 presidential election, ripping into liberals for all of the various indictments against Trump, which he says has breathed new life into him and the movement that supports him.
“You want to see a great case thing on narcissism,” Burr stated during the interview. “Liberals are so f***ing stupid, the way that they handle Trump.” Kimmel asked Burr to further elaborate on his comment. He happily obliged with the request.
“You should shut up!” Burr exclaimed. “He’s [Trump] a narcissist. Neutral energy. Neutral.”
Kimmel started to say, “You think he’d go away if we stopped …”
“You know what I think, he’s a one-hit wonder,” Burr interjected, going on to make a comparison between Trump and the song writer of “The Twist,” Hank Ballard. “He [Trump] wrote ‘The Twist’ and that was it. He was on the casino circuit.”
“And then you idiot liberals wrote him ‘Twist Again’ when you indicted him,” he continued his rant. “And now he’s a martyr. He’s coming back, Jimmy. He’s coming back. It’s going to be great for comedy. He’s coming back.”
The actor then complained about how it looks likely that the general election in 2024 is going to be between Trump and President Joe Biden.
“I can’t believe these are honestly going to be our two choices,” Burr said to the late night host. “I want somebody in their 40s. Somebody that’s going to have to live with their decision.”
“With any luck, they’ll both die of natural causes before the election, and maybe you could get somebody that still has something to live for,” he zinged.
According to the Daily Wire:
Biden turned 81 last month and is the oldest sitting president in American history, the AP noted. Trump will be 78 when voters go to the polls in November 2024 and would be older than Biden at the end of his four-year term if voters send the 45th president back to the White House.
While I disagree with Burr on a whole lot, I can’t disagree with the need for late night hosts to just shut up. Either go back to the old days and be more objective, or just don’t say anything and stop contributing to the insanity infecting our culture.
Please and thank you.
