Charlamagne Tha God, a popular on-air personality who is the co-host of “The Breakfast Club” program, heaped a ton of praise on former South Carolina Governor and current GOP presidential candidate Nikki Haley’s call for a mental competency test and age limits for elected officials. Now, some might feel this is is ageist or some such nonsense, but come on now. I think the presidency of Joe Biden has proven beyond a shadow of a doubt such requirements are necessary to ensure the individual who is in the executive branch is mentally competent.
According to the Daily Wire, the renewed push for age limits and mental competency tests comes hot on the heels of two incidents involving Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, a Kentucky Republican, where he froze in front of the camera while doing press conferences with media professionals. This is super concerning, not just from a political point of view, but from a human standpoint. It’s clear McConnell is not well. He probably needs to either step down or, if possible, finish his term and retire.
Haley, making an appearance on “Face the Nation” over the weekend, went on to say, “I think there should be mental competency tests. And I don’t care if they’re for everybody 50 and older. I don’t care if they’re for the entire Congress.”
She then stated that she wants to see politicians who are seeking to be elected to public office provide medical doctors with some kind of notice that informs them of the individual’s mental capacity.
Charlamagne weighed in on Haley’s comments during the interview stating, “Nikki is absolutely right. She ain’t say one d*** thing wrong.” I don’t really see what the big controversy is concerning tests to determine a person’s mental acuity. We do this kind of thing all the time to ensure that people are in good health to not only serve in the military or law enforcement, but to even operate machinery or do certain tasks that involve heavy use of the mind. Why should public office be any different?
“I’ll stop her when she stops telling the truth,” he added during “The Breakfast Club.” “We need term limits. And, you know, if you are going to stay in, you definitely need mental competency tests over the age of whatever.”
Tezlyn Figaro, another co-host on the show, also had positive things to say about Haley, explaining, “I like Nikki Haley. I like the fact that she made sure she included Democrats and Republicans in, you know, in her comments so that it was even across the board. And I just think she’s a smart lady and she’s also going up in the polls as well on the Republican side.”
“And we wouldn’t be having these conversations if there wasn’t an obvious cognitive decline,” Charlamagne noted. “Folks aren’t just saying this because these people are older. It’s because it’s obvious something is wrong.”

Again, there’s nothing wrong with what Haley said. Will it improve her standing in the polls? Probably not. Everyone who has tossed their hat in the ring is getting trounced by former President Donald Trump, and, barring some sort of legal catastrophe, he’s probably going to be the nominee.
But hey, anything is possible.
