Two Harvard professors, Larry Summers and Jason Furman tore into a couple of campus groups after they put out an extremely anti-Israel statement just after the Hamas terrorist organization launched a series of disturbing, brutal attacks over the weekend that has left hundreds of people dead. Not only that, the miscreants in this terrorist group have also been kidnapping innocent people, raping them, and even beheading babies. That tells you the kind of animals Israel is dealing with at the moment, yet liberals are showing a heck of a lot of support for Hamas, as this statement from these groups indicates.
According to the Daily Wire, the statement from the groups immediately pummeled Israel and held them responsible for the violence ripping through their country.
“We, the undersigned student organizations, hold the Israeli regime entirely responsible for all unfolding violence,” the opening line of the statement read. Young people, having been brainwashed by over a decade of government funded public school, have joined in the hive mind we know as the radical left, adopting every tenet of their belief system in order to feel part of the collective, including the hatred for Israel and Jewish people as a whole.
Of course, the letter more or less ignored the fact that the attacks Hamas launched against the Jewish Nation were unprovoked, focusing solely it seems on “retaliation” that was going to come out of Israel following the attacks. Funny how they are criticizing a group of people for simply defending themselves after their country was breached by radical terrorists of a completely different ethnicity and religion, as if that makes them the bad guys somehow.
“Today, the Palestinian ordeal enters into uncharted territory. The coming days will require a firm stand against colonial retaliation. We call on the Harvard community to take action to stop the ongoing annihilation of Palestinians,” the statement finished.
Professor Summers came out hard against the statement in a post on social media saying, “In nearly 50 years of @Harvard affiliation, I have never been as disillusioned and alienated as I am today. The silence from Harvard’s leadership, so far, coupled with a vocal and widely reported student groups’ statement blaming Israel solely, has allowed Harvard to appear at best neutral towards acts of terror against the Jewish state of Israel.”

Summers then pointed out that the leadership at Harvard was not at all bashful about sharing support for Ukraine or speaking out about so-called police violence after the death of George Floyd several years ago, but noted how they remained silent as Hamas tore through Israel leaving a trail of destruction and death, even while students proudly hailed the terrorists as heroes.
“I am sickened,” he said speaking of the joint statement. “I cannot fathom the Administration’s failure to disassociate the University and condemn this statement. I very much hope appropriate statements from the University and College condemning those who launched terrorist attacks and standing in solidarity with its victims will soon be forthcoming.”
Instead, Harvard is being defined by the morally unconscionable statement apparently coming from two dozen student groups blaming all the violence on Israel. I am sickened. I cannot fathom the Administration’s failure to disassociate the University and condemn this statement.

Summers finished his comments about the statement by saying it’s not wrong to question Israeli policies, however, that’s not the same thing as failing to condemn cold blooded acts of terrorism. Believe it or not, you can actually do both.
“Summers was joined in spirit by fellow Harvard professor Jason Furman, who said that while he typically tried to stay in his own lane and avoid making ‘public statements,’ he felt compelled to address the anti-Israel statement coming from campus groups,” the report said.
“It is getting global attention and the sentiments it expresses are egregious. Blaming the victims for the slaughter of hundreds of civilians. Absolving the perpetrators of any agency. This is morally ignorant and painful for other members of the community,” he remarked, going on to add, “I deeply hope — and from my experience believe — that this statement does not speak for most students. Maybe not even most students in these groups — possibly a quick first impression before the full scale of the horror perpetrated by Hamas became clear.”
