It’s now officially been a month since terrorists from Palestinian terrorist group Hamas launched a massive attack on the people of Israel, killing 1,400 individuals and taking hundreds of people hostage, dragging them into the Gaza Strip. One such hostage is high school student Ofir Engel who was captured by Hamas while visiting the family of his girlfriend on October 7 in Kibbutz Be’eri. Over a hundred people in the kibbutz were murdered in cold blood by radical Islamists.
Engel’s aunt, according to the Daily Wire, is trying to rally the family together and raise awareness about what’s happening in the country with all of the hostages in the hope that some sort of pressure campaign is launched that will lead to the release of her precious nephew.
“I want every father and mother in the world to close their eyes for two minutes and imagine that they put their children to bed safely in their houses, and in the morning people come in and take them away, and rape them, and cut their heads away, and kill them in their beds,” Yael Engel Lichi, Engel’s aunt, explained. “That’s what they have to imagine.”
“One month passed, and we’re still here,” Yael remarked. “We are all together, all the time, around the clock. Giving them strength.”
Not long after the attack started, Engel was sending out text messages to his family as he and his girlfriend’s family hid in their bomb shelter. At some point, terrorists gained entrance to the home and bomb shelter, dragging them all outside. Lichi went on to say that she’s remaining hopeful that her nephew is still alive as his cell phone pinged from Gaza the day following the attacks.
“Engel, a Dutch citizen, has received attention from the Dutch government who met with Engel’s father last week. According to Yael, her father also met with the Qatari Ambassador to the Netherlands. Qatar, the country that hosts Hamas leadership, has been actively involved with facilitating hostage negotiations,” the report said. “Hamas is believed to have roughly 240 hostages in Gaza — the terrorist group says dozens have been hit by Israeli airstrikes as it fights to eliminate them from existence. Thus far, Hamas has released just four hostages, and one has been rescued.”
The government of Israel has already made it clear there will be no talks concerning a ceasefire until the scum in Hamas release all of the hostages. Sounds like a fair deal to me, don’t you think? After all, Hamas started this conflict with no provocation, mowing down innocent civilians.
What will really break your heart is what Yael said concerning her daughter’s reaction to the situation.
“Every evening she wants to talk about Ofir. Is he eating? Is he warm? I cannot do it,” she revealed.
This is just a horrible situation for this family to be in, one that no parent or family should ever have to endure. Is this really the kind of legacy that followers of Islam and the prophet Muhammad want to leave for future generations? One of a bloodthirsty, barbaric, backwards people consumed with the utter destruction of anyone who does not share their religious convictions? I certainly hope not.
Let’s hope a miracle happens and Ofir is released back home to his family.
