Legendary action star Arnold Schwarzenegger, who once served as the governor of California recently made an astounding claim, one that will leave the vast majority of individuals who read this article with their chins on the ground. Or, at the least, scratching their heads. Apparently, The “Conan the Barbarian” actor thinks that if he were to run in the 2024 presidential election, he’d basically be a shoe in, also stating he doesn’t think former President Donald Trump has a chance at pulling out a victory against President Joe Biden.
TheBlaze reported that Schwarzenegger appeared on former Fox News host Chris Wallace’s “Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace?” telling him that if not for the current constitutional limits placed on foreigners being eligible to run for the office of president, he would definitely launch a campaign for the White House.
“The Constitution says that the President has to be a natural born US citizen. If not for that, would you have run for president?” Wallace went on to ask the actor, according to a piece published by Variety.
“Well, yes, of course,” Schwarzenegger replied. “I mean, I think the field was wide open in 2016. And I think the field is open right now. I mean, think about it right now. I mean, who is there?”
“There is really not a person that can bring everyone together. Who is here today that people say okay, he’s not too old or he’s not too this or too that, or is that because it’s now a question about who do you vote against then who do you vote for?” the “Terminator” star remarked during the interview.
“You’re saying you would run for president in 2024?” Wallace continued.
“Absolutely,” the former California governor said in response. “Put me in because it’s, look – it’s a no brainer. I see so clearly how I could win that that election.”
“Schwarzenegger added that he isn’t right wing nor left wing and that he could be the one to bring the nation together. ‘When [I was] running for governor, it was clear that people are looking for some new answer, not a right wing or left wing, but someone that can bring the nation together and doesn’t see the other party as the enemy,'” TheBlaze stated.
During an interview, Schwarzenegger divulged his thoughts on the current presidential election that is just starting to ramp up, stating he isn’t convinced Trump will be able to defeat Biden in the general election next year.
“I don’t think it’s going to happen,” a report from KFOR revealed.
“I just don’t think that you get reelected with 30 percent or 33 percent of the people voting for you in your polls,” Schwarzenegger stated, speaking of the former president. It’s important to point out that a recent summary of polling that was put out by RealClear Politics, Trump has a lead on Biden of two points on average.
“You need the swing voters. You need the independents, you need everybody to jump in there in order to win,” the 75-year-old movie star, who has a brand new series on Netflix, said. “And so the question is, can he do that … I believe he can’t.”
I, for one, am thankful for the laws in the Constitution that prevent foreign individuals from being able to run for president for a number of reasons. One of them, though it’s not exactly close to the top, is that Schwarzenegger cannot run for office. We dodged a proverbial bullet with that one.
