We live in very weird times. I don’t think anyone reading this post are going to disagree with that statement. Once upon a time, a dude was a dude, a girl was a girl. Boys liked girls. Girls like boys. Then it became known that some boys liked boys, some girls liked girls. That was difficult for our society to deal with. Then things got, well, complicated. Boys cut their genitalia off, shot up with hormones and claimed to have periods. Girls got prosthetic penises, injected testosterone into their veins, and grew beards.
But the madness hasn’t ended there. People went from claiming to be homosexuals, to being bisexual. Then asexual. Then pansexual.
And that brings us to the story.
According to the Daily Wire, television personality Wayne Brady, who currently hosts the popular game show, “Let’s Make a Deal,” recently came out as being pansexual during an interview with People. Leave it to human beings to take something as simple as sexuality and make it as complicated as possible. We are very good at that.
“In doing my research, both with myself and just with the world, I couldn’t say if I was bisexual, because I had to really see what that was, especially because I really have not gotten a chance to act on anything,” the 51-year-old actor and comedian said during his chat with the outlet.
“So I came to pansexual because — and I know that I’m completely messing up the dictionary meaning — but to me, pan means being able to be attracted to anyone who identifies as gay, straight, bi, transsexual or non-binary,” he continued. Oi vey.
“I took pan to mean that not only can I be attracted to any of these people or types physically, but I could be attracted to the person that is there,” the host said.
According to GLAAD, a pro-LGBTQ advocacy group, pansexual is defined as “a person who has the capacity to form enduring physical, romantic, and/ or emotional attractions to any person, regardless of gender identity.”
What makes this all a bit weird is that between 1993 to 1995, Brady was married to Diana Lasso. He was also married to Mandie Taketa from 1999 to 2008, even having a now 20-year-old daughter, Maile, with her. Brady’s ex-wives responded to his latest announcement.
“I just said, ‘Great.’ As I knew coming out would help him be happier,” Taketa stated concerning the situation. His daughter Maile went on to say, “I just said, ‘Okay.’”
Brady stated during the interview that he has been attracted to men in the past but did not want to admit it.
“Let’s be really honest: I’ve also been attracted to certain men in my life, but I’ve always pushed that aside because of how I was raised, and because I live in today’s world, and it’s scary as sh**,” he added. How is that difficult to admit in today’s world? Our culture practically gushes over folks like Brady. It’s those who call out the insanity that get pushed around and made fun of. Don’t be so dramatic, Brady.
“What’s the fastest way to hurt another man? I’m gonna call you out of your name. I’m gonna call you gay. I’m gonna emasculate you. I’m gonna use the F-word. I learned that very early from the people around me, they’re like, “Oh, so those are bad things? Yeah. You, you don’t wanna be that,” Brady explained.
Later in the interview Brady said he previously was treated for “love addiction.” I’m afraid to ask what that means. I don’t think I really want to know.
