The Democratic Party took yet another hit on Monday as a state legislator left the political party and joined forces with the GOP, making it the the third time this has happened over the course of the last month, according to a report from The Advocate. Is this the beginning of the Great Awakening? Are people’s eyes finally opening and seeing the reality of what Democrats and progressives actually stand for, what they want to transform this nation into?
I can’t say that for sure, but the signs are fairly promising. The more folks jump ship and come over to the GOP, the better the future of our republic looks. Now, that’s not to say that the Republican Party as a whole is just automatically the good guys. There are lots of Republicans In Name Only (RINOs) who are establishment hacks that might as well be Democrats, selling out the cause whenever doing so is advantageous for their careers and pocketbooks.
But there’s far more freedom loving individuals, principles, and policies floating around the GOP than the Democratic Party.
“State Rep. Jeremy LaCombe is jumping ship, making him the second Louisiana House Democrat to flip Republican this month after Rep. Francis Thompson, whose switch gave the GOP a supermajority, The Advocate reported. The announcement came on the first day of Louisiana’s legislative session on April 10, just a few days after North Carolina state Rep. Tricia Cotham also turned red to give North Carolina Republicans a supermajority,” the Daily Caller reported.
“House Democrats will continue to stand up for the working people of Louisiana,” Rep. Sam Jenkins, Chair of the House Democratic Caucus, went on to tell The Advocate. “We look forward to working with Rep. LaCombe during this legislative session to increase wages, lower costs, improve our schools and pass insurance reform that benefit Louisiana families and small businesses.”
The switch leaves Democrats with only 31 of the 105 members in the House. Republicans have 71. It comes as the Legislature prepares to convene for its annual session. #lalege #lagov

The report continued, “In 2019, LaCombe handily won his seat in a special election with 68% of the vote, and was later elected to a full term with 62%, according to The Advocate. LaCombe ran for state Senate in 2022, but lost to Republican Caleb Kleinpeter by nearly 9 points.”
“The new Republican, who represents District 18, is a small business owner, director of the nonprofit Janell Legier LaCombe Cancer Fund and has served on the Chamber of Commerce board, according to his campaign website,” the report added.
Democratic Gov. John Bel Edwards will be leaving his seat due to term limits and it will be up for grabs come this November. The GOP sees this as a golden opportunity to gain yet another seat and flip the state red. Which you know the left already knows, so they are probably sweating bullets right about now. Well, maybe not bullets since they hate guns with the intensity of a thousand burning suns, but you know what I meant.
LaCombe did not immediately respond to a request for comment made by the Daily Caller News Foundation.
It’s certainly interesting to see all of these liberals suddenly see the light, isn’t it? The more they see their radical beliefs applied in reality, the clearer it becomes that they don’t work and actually do far more harm than good.
