Co-hosts of the worst television talk show in the history of broadcast TV, “The View,” spent most of a segment on the program whining like a bunch of ninnies over comments made by Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker during a commencement speech slamming both President Joe Biden and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives, otherwise known as DEI. Of course, for anyone familiar with this dreadful show, the harpies screeching about things is pretty much the format for the program. It really is awful.
According to The Daily Wire, the broadcast kicked off with Whoopi Goldberg stating that she didn’t share Butker’s views on those specific topics, but believed it was important that he be allowed to exercise his First Amendment right to freedom of speech and expression just like every other American. As you can probably assume, this didn’t go over well with the other hosts of “The View.”
“He’s at a Catholic college, he’s a staunch Catholic. These are his beliefs and he’s welcome to them, I don’t have to believe them, I don’t have to accept them,” Goldberg remarked during the segment. “The same way we want respect when Colin Kaepernick takes a knee, we want to give respect to people whose ideas are different from ours.”
Ladies and gentlemen, there is a specific phrase in the English language that summarizes what Goldberg just said here. That phrase is “consistency.” The vast majority of liberals do not have this “consistency” I speak of. Most of them have never even heard the word before. Anyway, it essentially means that if you believe in free speech, or any other right, for yourself and your side of the political spectrum, you also believe the other side has it and should be allowed to practice those rights the same.
Pretend-moderate Sara Haines claims Butker is "practicing" an "extremist" and "cult-like" sect of Catholicism like "some religions in the Middle East."
"This is a very extreme religion," she adds "as a Christian."

Cohost Sara Haines weighed in next, saying that she agreed that free speech was important but pushing back a bit on Goldberg’s comparison to Kaepernick. She claimed that Butker was practicing something “divergent” from mainstream Catholicism that was “cult-like” and “extremist,” comparing his belief system to “some religions in the Middle East.”
“This is a very extreme religion,” Haines added. “And what bothers me about that as a Christian is that when people abuse Christianity they often not only cherry pick from the Bible, they misinterpret and lie by omission.”
Speaking of cherry picking, there are a lot of verses that people like Haines, who tend to lean very liberal when it comes to understanding Scripture, tend to ignore or twist to meet the worldview they have adopted as their own. That’s backwards from how it is supposed to be. We are to allow the Holy Spirit to dwell in us by faith in Christ and allow Him to guide us and allow the Bible to shape our worldview. Haines has this all backwards.
She then claimed that Butker is “not walking with Jesus.” I’d say the same about her.
Cohost Alyssa Farah Griffin followed Haines up by complaining about the fact that he mentioned DEI at all — noting that it was not in the Bible — and suggesting that if he was going to be critical of Biden, he should have also mentioned former President Donald Trump.
She claims Butker was "alienat[ing] certain parts of scripture" by being against same-sex relationships.

Griffin concluded by arguing that Butker “chose to target the LGBTQ community” in his comments, something that she said amounted to “alienat[ing] certain parts of scripture” and “pick[ing] the convenient parts” of the Bible.
Butker has made a fan out of me. I mean, the fact he’s a diehard Christian who actually believes the Bible and boldly proclaims it far and wide is enough to get me to like him. But add to that the fact most of the co-hosts of “The View” don’t like him and I’m completely and totally sold.
