President-elect Donald Trump announced Thursday evening that he has officially nominated one of his top former allies from the House to head up Veterans Affairs. Trump has been releasing his cabinet picks left and right, and to be honest, they’re awesome. He knows what he’s doing. Trump really is serious about making this nation great again.
“I am pleased to announce my intent to nominate former Congressman Doug Collins, of Georgia, as The United States Secretary for Veterans Affairs (VA),” Trump stated in his announcement. “Doug is a Veteran himself, who currently serves our Nation as a Chaplain in the United States Air Force Reserve Command, and fought for our Country in the Iraq War.”
“We must take care of our brave men and women in uniform, and Doug will be a great advocate for our Active Duty Servicemembers, Veterans, and Military Families to ensure they have the support they need,” he added. “Thank you, Doug, for your willingness to serve our Country in this very important role!”
Collins went to bat for the president-elect during both impeachments he faced when serving his first four year term in office. He also backed Trump against allegations of Russian collusion to steal the 2016 election from twice-failed Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.
According to the Daily Wire, Collins posted a response to the announcement on X, saying he was “honored to accept @realDonaldTrump’s nomination as Secretary of Veterans Affairs.”
“Our heroes deserve the best care and support,” he added in the post. “We’ll fight tirelessly to streamline and cut regulations in the VA, root out corruption, and ensure every veteran receives the benefits they’ve earned.”
“Together, we’ll make the VA work for those who fought for us,” he continued. “Time to deliver for our veterans and give them the world class care they deserve.”

He’s absolutely right about needing to care for our veterans. Democratic administrations have done a very poor job of taking care of the warriors who have volunteered to serve our nation and its interests abroad. The health of a society can be measured by how it treats its elderly, its children, and its warriors. Under the leadership of Democrats we suck at all three.
And this is what makes Trump’s incoming administration such a blessing. A lot of military members who have been cast aside due to their refusal to get the COVID vaccine will be vindicated. And future folks who sign up will be rewarded and safeguarded by the new administrations policies.
Things are looking good.
