The United States government has agreed to pay Moderna, a vaccine maker, a whopping $176 million in order to put the pedal to the metal on the development of a pandemic influenza vaccine that might be used to treat bird flu as more and more worry concerning the illness develops over cases of it found in dairy cows all over the nation, federal officials reported on Tuesday.
Here we go again, ladies and gentlemen. They are really desperate to stop this election, aren’t they? Many pundits guessed that radicals would try and recreate the coronavirus pandemic conditions as a means of manipulating the electoral process. A lot of us didn’t believe they would actually have the gumption to do so, but this certainly says otherwise.
Here’s more from the Associated Press:
Moderna already has a bird flu vaccine in very early-stage testing that uses the same mRNA technology that allowed rapid development and rollout of vaccines to protect against COVID-19. The new funds from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services include continued development of the vaccine, including a late-stage trial next year if those early study results are positive.
But the project can be quicky redirected to target another form of influenza if a different threat than the H5N1 form of bird flu emerges, HHS officials stressed. The award was made through the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority, or BARDA, a program that focuses on medical treatments for potential pandemics.
The bird flu virus, also known as H5N1, was first detected earlier in the year in some dairy cows and has now spread to a total of 135 herds across 12 different states and has made the jump to human beings in three separate cases. However, before everyone panics and starts digging out the masks again, federal health officials have stated that the actual risk of infection for the wider population is low.
I know that’s what they are saying, but when you have forces of darkness working within the government in order to try and usurp authority from the people through any means necessary, saying there’s a potential medical emergency on the horizon is a bit on the scary side. You cannot underestimate the power hungry individuals living in this country.
According to a report from The Colorado Sun, the Rocky Mountain state is now experiencing the worst outbreak of bird flu in dairy cattle across the U.S.
As of Monday evening, Colorado had identified 26 herds with cases of avian influenza. Of those, 22 were identified within the past month and the herds are still in quarantine. Four other cases were identified earlier and quarantines have since been lifted.
All affected herds are in the northeastern part of the state.
The report concluded by saying, “The rapid and still largely mysterious spread in Colorado — hardly a leading dairy state — contributes to growing concerns that U.S. health authorities are not doing enough to contain the virus. While the threat currently to humans is generally very low, infectious disease experts worry that the longer the virus spreads unchecked through animals, the greater the chances become that it will mutate to become more dangerous to people.”
