“Dawson’s Creek” star James Van Der Beek is none too happy with the Democratic National Committee and their support for President Joe Biden, going on to publicly rip into them for not allowing a debate between the current commander-in-chief and his challengers Robert F. Kennedy and Marianne Williamson, to happen on television.
“In a video posted to TikTok, Van Der Beek said that democracy cannot exist if an unelected elite decides who becomes president without allowing the people to hear all sides out in a debate, suggesting that America would be in control of Big Tech, Big Business, Big Pharma, and other major elites,” Breitbart News said.
“How is this a democracy? And how is anybody in the DNC today going to post about thanking our troops and thanking the families who have made the ultimate sacrifice to preserve our democracy and our way of freedom?” the actor said.
“Now listen, I am grateful for them, but any member of the DNC who’s gonna think about that posting that today… Stop,” he continued. “Think and do your fucking job before you start posting about how grateful you are that there are people out there who are willing to die to preserve our democracy because you are not preserving democracy right now.”
The former teen heartthrob went on to say that the folks in charge of the DNC have been working hard to force their choice of a candidate on the American people. Van Der Beek then cited data from recent polls that show Kennedy Jr. has a total of 19 percent support while Marianne Williamson has 7 percent.
“That is a quarter of the vote who already thinks, at the very least, some debate about who ought to be president,” he explained. “There’s no debate, there’s no democracy. No primary, no legitimate president.”

“No debate, no democracy”

Van Der Beek isn’t the only one ticked off at the DNC. Twitter owner Elon Musk also gave the DNC a severe tongue lashing for not having primary debates between the president and other candidates not long after Cenk Uygur, who hosts The Young Turks, also expressed frustration.
“DNC has already announced that it will not allow any debates in 2024 primary. Biden is not to be challenged. Everyone on the Democratic side must shut up and fall in line. Not having debates is undemocratic and ridiculous. No progressive should agree to this kind of power grab,” posted Uygur.
“We will do our best to support candidates from all parties, so that the public may make the most informed choice. Far too much back room dealing seems to be happening,” Musk tweeted.

Public debate is incredibly important for helping folks to decide who they are going to vote for. Since several other candidates have decided to challenge Biden for the nomination, it’s only fair they be given a national platform to inform voters where they stand on the issues that matter to them.
But the establishment within the Democratic Party is a lot like that of the Republican Party. They want only the candidates of their choice to sit in the Oval Office, the individuals who will stack cash in their pockets and help them push forward their own personal agenda.
That needs to stop.
